MBHN (Modern British History Network) Postgraduate Colloquium

Dear Fellow Historian,

I hope this note finds you doing well. Please see the attached registration details for the upcoming Postgraduate Colloquium sponsored by the Modern British History Network (www.mbhn.org.uk). The colloquium will take place at the University of Stirling, 7 February 2009.  All postgraduates are welcome to present short, twenty-minute papers, whether sharply focused or wide ranging, on any topic of British history since c. 1750.  Feel free to pass this invitation to any postgraduate historians that may be interested. We are hoping to recruit as many papers as possible. Thanks you for your time.

This colloquium is an opportunity for postgraduate students to present their research in a safe and constructive environment. All are welcome to present short twenty-minute papers on any topic related to modern British history. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet other research students with similar interests and make valuable contacts.

The conference, sponsored by the Modern British History Network, will take place at Stirling University, 7 February 2009. A £5 registration fee, payable upon arrival, will be collected to cover costs.

というＨＰができたので参照してほしい。このＨＰに会合の申し込み方法等も記されている。

簡単に補足説明をすると、スコットランドのストラスクライド大学、スターリング大学、アバディーン大学等(他にも、イングランド北部の大学も協力しているらしい、例、ダーラム大学やニューカッスル大学）のイギリス近代史教員（伝統的な分野の政治史や宗教史の教員が多い）が中心となって結成したもので、院生や若手研究者向けのカンファレンス等を企画している。若手の院生や研究者が、研究報告の経験をつんだり、院生や研究者の間の社交性を高めるのが主たる目的だと思う。今年の6月のカンファレンスに参加しての感想は、アットホームで、報告経験をつむこともできて、何名かの大家も参加していて、このような企画もいいものだなと思った。

ＩＨＲでの院生報告のセミナー以外にも、上記のような企画があることは、院生や若手研究者のためにも素晴らしいことだと思う（ロンドンやオックスブリッジだけが研究報告の場ではない！！！！！！←イギリス地方大学出身者の叫び( ＾ω＾ )　求　イギリス地方大学連合　有志　(o^-^o)）。自分自身も機会があったら、また、参加・報告をしたいと思っている。
